Sonja is a woman in her forties who's ready for a change. As the Swedish crime novels she translates lose their fascination, she reconnects with her sister, and finally learns to drive. But Sonja can't shift gears under her instructor's harsh gaze, and her carefully hidden vertigo flares up at the worst possible moments. Sonja longs to escape Copenhagen's alienating streets for the rural landscapes of her childhood, but how can she return to a place she no longer recognizes?
